Deuteronomistic History Overview

We are developing a new "Introduction to the Hebrew Bible" from a completely
secular perspective and are looking for authors with differing specialties.
The book will be designed for use in the undergraduate classroom, and we
want to improve upon the existing offerings out there by making the book
more rich, challenging and unconventional. It would be wholly secular in its
approach and be written for the modern world. As the tentative title
indicates, although the books of the Bible will be covered, the survey will
not restricted by canon. Bringing scholars who are also gifted teachers into
the project, we will focus not just on academic rigor, but also on the power
to successfully convey ideas and information to the non-specialist.

Abstract:

This project is designed to be written by content specialists who also
regularly teach introductory courses in the Hebrew Bible. The goal is to
bring together individuals who share a passion for teaching, but aren't
exactly enamored with the current textbooks that exist, perhaps because of
an unintentional but underlying bias in favor of biblical religion.  The
desire is to focus on a strong theoretical foundation with conceptual
clarity.
