Teresa Lao, Ph.D.
My name is Dr. Teresa M. Lao. I am writing to all of you from "San Antonio, Texas. How is
it here? This is a wonderful city with many things to do. I know we have Sea World, Six Flags, Riverwalk, The Alamo, etc. are located here. San Antonio is also a few hours away from Austin, Dallas, Houston, Corpus Christie, and Galveston. What do I like to do for fun? I love to do the following things with my sons and husband: swim,
ski, exercise, travel to different places, play the piano, and read books and magazines.
Educational Background -- I have a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Learning Technology from New Mexico State University. I also have a Master of Arts degree in Public Relations with a minor in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications at Ball State University. I have been teaching for 16 years now. I truly enjoy the interaction with all my students.
Work Experience -- My professional experience includes working as a News Copy Editor for the El Paso Times newspaper and Public Relations exposures for a non-profit organization when I lived in Indiana. I am also a content developer/curriculum specialist where I develop/ed undergraduate and graduate courses for different institutions of higher learning. In addition, I worked as a certified Equal Employment Opportunity investigator where I investigated discrimination complaints filed by employees of the federal government.
Teaching Experience -- My teaching experience includes facilitating Adult Basic
Education classes and English as a Second Language to mostly displaced factory workers in El Paso. I currently serve as a consultant for the Academic Council on Education (ACE) where a team of faculty and I evaluate military courses for college credits. I also serve as a Master Reviewer for Quality Matters, an organization that checks online standards for various institutions of higher learning.
