Richard Bennett Furlow, PhD

R. Bennett Furlow completed his doctoral work in Religious Studies at Arizona State University in August, 2013. His dissertation, "Spectre of Colony: Colonialism, Islamism, and State in Somalia," examined the development of Islamism in East Africa from the colonial period to today. In addition, he has researched topics related to religion and new media, religion and politics, and religion and popular culture. Furlow has been published in peer reviewed journals, academic blogs, and newspapers.
