Phyllis MacIntyre, Ed.D
Phyllis L MacIntyre Assistant Professor A full-time faculty of Fairleigh University in December 2011 and was the Program Coordinator for FDU-Vancouver during a period of rapid growth. In addition to a Doctorate in Education, Dr. MacIntyre earned a MBA degree from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Engineering from Dalhousie University. Dr. MacIntyre is a Canadian Human Resource Professional who practiced in job evaluation, career development, outplacement, organizational development and change management. Dr. MacIntyre is a professional engineer in British Columbia and is an active volunteer with the division advancement of women engineers (DAWEG). Her industrial engineering career began with Canadian Pacific Railways with a focus on productivity improvements in rail car operations. She moved into healthcare to lead projects in developing hospital systems for reporting, purchasing, and functional programming for an ambulatory care centre in Montreal. She joined Ernst & Whinney (now KPMG) as a management consultant in Western Canada on projects in health care planning, implementation of government funded programs, and conducted audits of hospital operations. Her MBA lead to strategic planning for BC Hydro and later as the corporate planning for the port of Vancouver. It was an executive coaching program at Royal Roads University that was the impetus for her career shift into adult education and university teaching. Learning how to learn is the focus of her research and application of innovative teaching practice in university education.
