Directory & Faculty Profiles
Paul G. Ward, PhD
I am a management consultant, leadership and life coach, and entrepreneur. My consulting work is focused on transformational change, strategy execution, and business performance improvement. In coaching, my focus is on transitions in the second half of life and I am currently conducting research into purposeful aging. I am the author of a soon to be published book, The Inner Journey to Conscious Leadership (www.theconsciousleadershipbook.com) I completed masters and doctorate degrees at Capella University. My doctoral dissertation was on leadership values, behaviors, and styles. I also have a master of science degree in the computer aided design of engineering systems from Kingston upon Thames University and a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Portsmouth University, both while living in England. I joined the faculty of University of Phoenix, School of Advanced Studies in 2010, facilitating the Architecture of Leadership online course for the Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership and mentoring learners through their dissertation journey. I like to think of myself as an edgewalker, exploring opportunities beyond formal boundaries, breaking new ground, fostering creativity, envisioning new futures, and building bridges between diverse environments. My journey began designing the intricate mechanisms of the early ATMs and credit card handling machines, continued through the then emerging world of computer aided engineering, and on to the challenging world of personal and organizational transformation. Life has been a series of personal and organizational transitions, often operating at the leading edge, pioneering new designs of physical things and collaborative spaces. Born in England, the spirit of adventure has taken me around Europe and the Americas practicing my craft as designer, engineer, marketer, business leader, visioneer, facilitator, and coach. Farther afield, walking among the indigenous tribes and the animals of the Serengeti has provided deep appreciation of the need to find guides for adventures and spiritual journeys, and for personal and organizational transformations. I am married for the second time and live in West Palm Beach, FL. I have two children from my first marriage and three grandchildren. I am a hot air balloon pilot with British and American pilot certificates. I look forward to lively, challenging, and enjoyable learning experiences.
