Nancy Spitulnik, Ed.D.

My educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University in elementary and special education, a Master’s Degree from Lesley University in special education, and a Doctorate from University of Massachusetts/Amherst in educational administration. After working as a special needs teacher and administrator in the Boston Public Schools for 15 years, I spent 16 years as an elementary school principal in a suburban school district. I was the Director of Student Services in that district for two years, and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in a rural district for one year. I was the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in a suburban school system for three years, followed by two years as the Superintendent of Schools. Since retiring in June, 2014, I have been an Interim Superintendent in two different school districts. I facilitate EDD 724 Instructional Leadership online for the University of Phoenix, and mentor doctoral students. I continue to do scholarly presentations at regional educational conferences relating to curriculum, instruction, and leadership. I also do consultation and mentoring with public school administrators, as well as professional development presentations to school staff. I have worked with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (State Department of Education) as an audit team member to review and re-license higher education educator preparation programs in the state.
