Nancy Jennings, DBA, RN, FACHE
As a child, the one thing I never wanted to be when I grew up was a nurse; I really wanted to be a school teacher and started college to become an educator. While working my way through school, I worked many jobs, including a position at the front desk of a physician’s office. I spent months watching the interactions that occurred between individual patients and the office nurses. It was then that I decided to quit my current pursuit and enroll in a nursing program. I graduated from a small local community college with a degree in Nursing and practiced as a Registered Nurse for ten years prior to returning to college. I returned to school later to obtain a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Health Care Administration and completed my Doctorate of Business Administration from Northcentral University. In addition to teaching, I currently work for a national healthcare consulting firm and travel to hospitals throughout the United States. Prior to consulting, I was the Vice President of Clinical Operations at a mid-sized community hospital in the Southeast. I have leadership experience in a variety of clinical and business areas and enjoy sharing that knowledge with others. Health care is a dynamic field which is constantly changing, especially in light of health care reform and the current economic downturn. I find these changes both challenging and interesting. I am a registered nurse and currently serve a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare executives and past Vice Chairperson of the Individual Member Division of the American Nurses Association.
