MJ Outcaut Hill, MA Ed TESOL, MBA Marketing Biography I attended California, San Diego, Muir College Campus, and obtained my B.A. in Visual Art, Studio. I am an abstract painter and collage artist that began my career as an outdoor show artist. I worked for nonprofit arts organizations, a chamber of commerce planning art and music events, as well as taught art to children for several years, for the Boys and Girls Clubs. I returned to school and obtained my Multiple Subject Credential in the early 90's and was hired and fell in love with the elementary school setting. I have experience teaching Kindergarten, First, Third, and Fifth Grade. I obtained my M.A. degree with California State San Bernardino in Education with emphasis in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) . I began teaching at Calstate Long Beach's American Language Institute in the summer to escape the desert heat, while residing in Coachella Valley. I have taught within the education and business departments at various universities, including CalState, Ashford, Corinthian, Chapman, National University, Westcliff University, North Orange County Community College District and Phoenix University, in the evenings and online, where I equally enjoyed working with teachers preparing to teach or already working in the most important profession in our society-the field of education. I now reside in Orange County, California. I have taught Reading Methods, Social Studies Methods, Early Childhood, Cultural Linguistics, SDAIE strategies, CTEL Test Preparation, Field Experience for Student Teachers/Interns,Marketing and other TESOL classes, as well as Family/Culture/Schooling classes at various universities throughout the inland empire and online. I teach Creative Arts for Older Adults and The History of Local Pioneers in non-credit senior citizen classes. I recently finished a second MBA Marketing degree and have begun my final degree program, an Ed. D in Higher Education Administration. With that knowledge I am developing a website teaching local history, www.ur-history.com, and integrate the practice into my interests in curriculum and the second language learner, as well as a supplement for my older adult programs. I have received community service learning grants and have published an article on improving writing for higher education students.
