My name is Martin La Pierre. I am an independent consultant whose current focus is building innovative applications that incorporate the inherent cognitive capabilities found in IBM’s Watson computer system. I retired at the rank of Colonel from the United States Marine Corps in 2010. My Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) included Command and Control Systems Officer (0602) and Data Systems Specialist (8846). I was the original designer of several Marine Corps programs of record including the Ground Based Operational Surveillance System (GBOSS) and the Support Wide Area Network (SWAN). Additionally, I conceived and developed a long running cognitive modeling experiment used by the Marine Corps in Operational Testing Activity (MCOTEA) called the Synthetic Weapon Operator Prototype (SWOP) . The Model could act independently, or on cue from a human controller, to operate virtual versions of systems under test. I received my master’s degree in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from DePaul University in Chicago. I recently completed the Doctor of Management curriculum with specializations in Organizational Leadership & Information Systems and Technology at the University of Phoenix’s (UOPX) College of Doctoral Studies (COD).
