Leslie A. Miller, PhD, PHR, SHRM-CP
Dr. Leslie A. Miller is a research psychologist with more than 30 years of experience researching, teaching, and working directly with organizations to help them acquire, develop and retain the talent they need today and in the future to achieve desired business results and support business strategy. Leslie has a proven ability to design and implement innovative and pragmatic solutions to client’s business problems, establish great working relationships with her clients, and work fast and efficiently. Her colleagues and customers describe her as a results-oriented, process-driven, self-motivated, energetic professional with excellent oral, written and customer service skills. Her expertise includes defining organizational competency models and behavior standards, designing performance improvement/management tools and knowledge tests, customizing and facilitating leadership training programs, providing assessment-based executive coaching, and designing and implementing business impact evaluation studies. Some of Leslie's clients include domestic and global organizations (e.g., Bristol Myers Squibb, Pfizer, Novartis, AirTran Airways, American Water, Lockhead Martin, Hewlett Packard, Telephone Data Systems, US Cellular) as well as national industry associations (Technology Councils of North America [TECNA], American Association for Industrial Security [ASIS]). With a PhD in Educational Psychology from the University of Maryland and a Master's degree in Experimental/Cognitive Psychology from Washington State University, Leslie has an extensive list of publications and actively engages in research with her graduate students. She is currently first author on a 5th edition college-level psychological testing/measurement textbook published in July 2016 by SAGE Publications (Foundations of Psychological Testing: A Practical Approach). She enjoys consulting with clients to improve organizational effectiveness, conducting research, mentoring doctoral learners, designing research curriculum, and teaching graduate-level research courses. The owner of LanneM TM, LLC, Leslie spends her time working with Fortune 500 and smaller emerging companies to design and implement selection and development tools to improve leader performance. Previously the VP of Leadership Development/HR at the Central Florida YMCA, she was responsible for contributing to the strategic plans of the organization by leading the association’s talent management initiatives - recruiting, developing and retaining the association’s talent. Prior to joining the YMCA, she was employed by Wilson Learning Corporation, a performance improvement company, where she served as the Director of Business Solutions, a Senior Project Manager, and a Business Solutions Consultant. In these roles, she was responsible for conceptualizing, designing, managing, and implementing traditional and technology-based assessment, measurement, and training performance improvement solutions for client organizations. Dr. Miller served as the Assistant Dean of Admissions at Rollins College, where she was also a visiting faculty member of the Psychology and Organizational Behavior, and Human Resources programs. She was a key player in Rollins’ Program for Effective Leadership, where she provided assessment-based feedback to managers and leaders in various organizations. Before joining Rollins College, she was a Senior Research Psychologist for the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, in Washington, D.C. At the Bureau, she designed, researched, and analyzed the results of some of our nation’s most important surveys. Leslie has SHRM-CP and PHR certification designations, and she is an active member and presenter at several professional organizations, including the Society for Human Resource Development and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. In 2015, she received the SAGE Cornerstone Author Award for outstanding textbook contributions to the scholarly community.
