Leonard J. Huggins, PhD, CRP
I am currently an graduate faculty for the School of Advanced Studies at the University of Phoenix. While I have a deep passion for teaching, I have a growing aptitude for the pillars of discovery and application in research. My research interests focus primarily on disaster management and recovery, application of geospatial technologies/ location analytics and quantitative and network analyses. I have worked in the geospatial industry for the past 24 years. Currently, I am the GIS Coordinator for the City of Charlotte's Solid Waste Services Department. In this role, I also serve as the address coordinator for the City of Charlotte where I manage and analyze big-data related to addresses. Previously, I worked with the City of Pittsburgh as a route optimization professional. I also taught as an adjunct faculty member and served as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pittsburgh. I taught a graduate information technology and policy course while working at the University of Pittsburgh. As a postdoctoral researcher, I managed the GIS systems for the Center for Disaster Management at the University of Pittsburgh and had the opportunity to conduct research in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.
