Joan Chambers, Ph.D.
University of Phoenix School of Advanced Studies (SAS) Online faculty. As a SAS dissertation chair and committee member, I am invested in motivating and empowering adult learners to achieve their highest potential. The world of educational practices is constantly evolving but the factor that remains is the need to inspire students as they move through the dissertation process. I enjoy leveling the playing field of among adult professionals to achieve their highest potential. Through examples from my own story telling experiences, my philosophy is to ignite sparks and flames in doctoral students to persist through the hills and valleys, and to find ways to counter them. I enjoy research related to psychology, health care, women, minority, military and government, leadership, quality improvement, spirituality, employee behaviors, and other phenomena as they apply to diverse populations. The diversity of students is challenging and rewarding and I find that I am continually learning as well. To share what one knows is a gratifying experience; to gain further insights and knowledge in the process is even more fulfilling. As a military wife of a veteran, I have traveled extensively and lived in diverse cultures overseas continental United States. I have held a variety of positions in Europe and Stateside with Military Counseling and Clinical Psychology Behavioral Health Center, Education, and National Security organizations, to name a few. Away from cyberspace, I enjoy gardening (nurturing growth and beauty), along with the simple pleasures of family with my partner, adult sons (when they are home), and Tiger, our Labrador pup. ~
