Dr. Alicia Holland, MS, EdD

I have a B.A. in Elementary Education and a M.Ed in Early Childhood Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Also, I hold a M.S. in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Lastly, I hold a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D) in Organizational Leadership, with a minor in Curriculum Development from Nova Southeastern University located in North Miami Beach, Florida. My experience in the field of education is over 12 years and ranges from early childhood to adult education in many areas including special education, English as a Second Language (ESL), technology applications, and gifted and talented (GT). Currently, I am serving as a Lead Area Chair for Research and am a Research Fellow in the Center for Educational and Instructional Technology (CEITR) Research. In July 2017, I will present my Meditation and Critical Thinking Research Fellow Project in Toronto, Canada. This has been one of the highlights of my career because this particular opportunity aligns with my life mission of serving a higher purpose and helping others believe in themselves and go far. Just recently, I had honor of speaking at Harvard University on the topic of Personal Development. Outside of Academia, as a Transformational Life Coach, I travel the world sharing the message, You are Loved, Valued, and Competent. I just spoke at a Traditional and Alternative Medicine Conference in Dubai in June 2019. My seminal work, "Becoming a Better Tutor: A Data-Driven Approach to Tutoring" is dedicated to helping tutors become their very best and learn how to get started with a home-based tutoring business. Also, I am the author of the Expanding Your Tutoring Business Book Series, which help tutor business owners expand their tutoring practice. In 2017, the 2nd Edition of the books were released. The bottom line is that I enjoy sharing my knowledge with the rest of the world and truly hope that my contributions to the field of education benefit all parties involved in the tutoring industry. I enjoy teaching online because I am able to share my knowledge with students from different parts of the globe and it is an amazing feeling. Additionally, I enjoy sharing my professional experiences because many of my responsibilities require both critical and creative thinking skills on a daily basis. In every academic assignment, I strive to contribute real world experiences to our weekly discussions and provide assistance to ensure that students are successful on their academic journey. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, Georgia and Amaiya, who are 11 and 13 years old. In addition, I love to write, cook, garden, travel, and collect elephants (not real ones).
