David Filer earned a BA from Indiana University, an MBA in Information Systems from Xavier University, and a DBA in Information Systems with a minor in Education from the University of Sarasota. At the beginning of his career, Dr. Filer worked as a college professor, department chair, and as a network administrator. In 1997, he founded InterWorld Technologies, a technical consulting and training company based in Virginia. Dr. Filer provided training and consultative services across the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, England, Ireland, and Scotland. Today he serves as an Associate Professor and program head for Information Systems and Cyber Security at New River Community College and as Assistant Professor for the University of the Cumberlands Master's program in Cyber Security. Dr. Filer is also an Associate Faculty member in the School of Advanced Studies, and dissertation chair in the School of Advanced Studies at the University of Phoenix. He has published or presented on such topics as effective IT project management, IT security, and electronic medical records management.
In his spare time Dr. Filer is an Assistant Scout Master and fencing coach.
