As a graduate of Troy University, Carlos received his BS in Sports & Fitness Management with a minor in Athletics and Health Promotion. He also achieved a Master of Business Administration in 12/1/2009 from the University of Phoenix; Master of Business Administration with a Concentration in Hospitality & Tourism Management in 9/17/2012 from Strayer University; Master of Management in 06/09/2014 from the University of Phoenix; and a Graduate Human Resource Management Certificate in 10/26/2015 from the University of Phoenix. After graduation, Carlos began his career in the Hospitality & Tourism Industry as a Front Office Manager at the Fairfield Inns and Suites by Marriott. He then accepted a position with Northfield Inn, Suites & Conference Center as their Guest Service Manager. Realizing his passion for the Hospitality and Tourism industry he then joined with the Candlewood Suites Franchise as their Operations/Assistant General Manager. In each position, Carlos was able to pair the knowledge he obtained through the course of his studies with his firsthand experiences which helped him develop his own unique style of management. Once a management position became available, Carlos seized the opportunity and has been serving as the General Manager of the Country Inn and Suites since March of 2020. It is in this position that Carlos has had the opportunity to further develop one his styles of management which is Leadership by example. His experience in business operations, human resource management, customer service initiatives, employee training, and facilities management have proved vital in his current role as a manager, especially during this difficult COVID19 pandemic. While other hotels in the area were forced to lay off their employees and even temporarily close their doors, he took this time to work on needed projects at the property thereby ensuring his employees were still able to work every day. Under his guidance, Carlos was able to bring an underperforming property to one of the top grossing hotels in his company’s history. Carlos is also a proud Lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Springfield (IL) Alumni Chapter. He serves as the chapter Keeper of Exchequer (Financial Treasure) and also serves on the Executive Board. He has spearheaded his chapters involvement in the annual Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway as well as serve on the William J. Baldwin Scholarship Committee that awards scholarships to incoming college freshman.
