Christa Banton, EdD, MS, MSP, BCPC, LMFT

Dr. Banton received her BA in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino. She received a MS in counseling psychology in 2004 from California Baptist University, she received another MS in Psychology, Public Administration and Social Change from Walden University in 2013. She received her EdD in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in 2012. She is also a graduate of San Bernardino County’s Management Leadership Academy. Dr. Banton has specialized in working with special populations since 2000. She began her career working as a social worker for the Department of Public Health-HIV Program from 2000-2004. From there, she transitioned to the University of California San Diego, Department of Psychiatry working with the inmate population who were newly released into the San Bernardino County area, from 2004-2007. In 2007 she went on to work for Children and Family Services as a Social Services Practitioner and then finally from 2008 to the present as a Supervising Social Services Practitioner. In her current position she works with disabled foster children, new program development, minor mothers w/children, relative foster parents, new program design/implementation, and is the current county liaison for ICPC placements out of state. Dr. Banton has presented, taught, and trained on the topics including clinical psychology, careers in psychology, Human services management, child abuse and neglect, ICPC, special health care needs for foster children, achievement motivation for high risk youth, residentially based services, integration of corrections and community, abnormal psychology, foster care placement issues and a variety of topics related to child welfare practice. She teaches at the University of Phoenix, University of Riverside, and California State University Riverside, Extension. She is a Board Certified Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. She is a member of California Association of Marriage and Family Therapist (CAMFT), American Psychological Association and the American Psychotherapy Association. More recently she was appointment to the CAMFT CEPA committee and Auditing Committee to assist other MFT professionals in California.
