Catherine Dikes, EdD
Since 2008, Dr. Dikes has proudly affiliated with the University of Phoenix as Dissertation Chair and Committee Member for the College of Doctoral Studies (formerly School of Advanced Studies). Her 30 years of educational expertise serves doctoral candidates who are preparing their final dissertation. As a member of the Center for Professional Responsibility in Education, her research plan includes assisting educators in developing a greater understanding of the ethical frameworks to assist with professional decision-making in curriculum reform, teacher education, diversity in education, and PK-12 school structure and leadership. In August 2006, she served the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board as the Assistant Commissioner of the Outreach and Success Division providing oversight for Grants and Development, Marketing and Public Relations, and Outreach and Success Initiatives. Division goals included increasing post-secondary enrollment and graduation of underrepresented students and conducting public awareness campaigns in higher education. From 1998 to 2006, Dr. Dikes served the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) as Director of Grants and Development where she helped to develop state and federal proposals, managed a $122 million grant portfolio, and provided oversight of project management and compliance monitoring. From 1998 to 1985, she served as Founding Chief Education Officer for The North Hills Charter School creating a school based on the International Baccalaureate curriculum. She served as Assistant Principal and Attendance Officer for the Castleberry Independent School District and enforced state attendance laws which increased student attendance by five percent. She began her career in education in FWISD as Secondary Principal, Assistant Principal, Magnet School Coordinator, and business education teacher. Dr. Dikes has presented at state and national conferences and served on numerous education committees. She earned her Doctor of Education from Nova Southeastern University, Master of Education from the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from West Texas State University.
