Betty Ahmed, DBA
Academic History: Dr. Ahmed was born in Georgia, grew up in Florida, and earned a BA from University of Central Florida, a MBA from Stetson University, and a DBA from Nova Southeastern University. Experience: After a successful telecommunications marketing career Dr. Ahmed retired from AT&T. Dr. Ahmed’s background has been mainly Marketing, Accounting, and Finance, but also gained exposure and expertise in various facets of management. While at AT&T, Dr. Ahmed taught graduate and undergraduate finance and management courses at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Rollins College, and Warner Southern College. At UOPX, Dr. Ahmed chairs and serves on committees for doctoral students, mentors and evaluates faculty candidates, performs peer reviews of other faculty members, serves on the ethics committee, serves as SME for course development and revisions, and facilitates classes in the UBAM, GBAM and SAS programs. She and her husband own a commercial shopping center and residential properties earning experience in property management skills and buying and selling real estate. Professional Development: Dr. Ahmed is a member of Management History division of the Academy of Management and attends the Academy of Management annual meetings. Dr. Ahmed is a subscriber and regular reviewer of the Academy of Management Review, The Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Learning and Education, and Academy of Management Perspective. Dr. Ahmed has also attended the Global Finance annual meetings, the Financial Management annual meetings, and has attended the last several years of the International Business Conference annual meeting. Family, Beliefs, Interest: Dr. Ahmed is married, has two daughters and five grandchildren. Dr. Ahmed usually makes friends easily and is a loyal friend; believes God and family are most important in life; believes most people are basically good; and attempts to understand actions. Dr. Ahmed enjoys exercising, reading, working puzzles, cooking, and traveling.
