Barbara Baethe, EdD.

Barbara retired from public schools in 2003 after three decades in public education, serving as a teacher, counselor and administrator at all levels of public, private and correctional education settings. For the past twelve years, she has done educational consulting and taught graduate and undergraduate courses for five private universities Since retirement from public schools, she has done a variety of interesting things: was the Academic Dean at St. Agnes Academy for a year, consulted for the University of Texas Medical Health Science Center, doing assessments and observations in pre-schools throughout the United States for a year and completed another consulting position for the next two years on a joint research project with the University of Houston and Vanderbilt University, served as the District Coordinator position with Alternatives Unlimited supervising tutors for a program targeting at Risk high school students in Fort Bend ISD, written an online program for the Texas Gulf Institute's Alternative Certification Program for teachers and written several professional growth models for educators. Barbara was initiated into the Society into Delta Kappa Gamma Society International in 1982 and has been active at all levels of the Society, serving on committees, as an officer or committee chair, workshop presenter, pianist or member of the chorus. She has attended 27 State Convention, 23 Regional Conferences and 14 International Conventions, served on the Int. Nominations Committee, served on the Int. Administrative Board, as the Southwest Regional Director and Chair of the International Speakers Fund. On a personal note, she has been happily married for 41 years and is the mother of two grown, college educated, married children and two beautiful and brilliant grandchildren. Barbara says her faith, family and friends are the most important things in her life, with Delta Kappa Gamma running a close fourth. For pleasure, she enjoys music, working on photo albums, movies, Mexican food and traveling. She and her husband love to cruise.He says the only way he has her undivided attention is to take her out of the country.
