Andrea Wilson, Ph.D.

I have been a member of the online faculty at University of Phoenix for over 11 years now. I teach primarily in the College of Education's Administration and Leadership program at the graduate level. I also serve as a Faculty Supervisor for the Student Teaching Placement in the Teacher Certification program. In addition to my work at the University of Phoenix, I am presently a member of the faculty at multiple institutions of higher education. Aside from teaching courses in multiple disciplines, I serve as doctoral study and dissertation committee chair and member. I am a frequent subject matter expert for the development of new and revised courses, course materials, and textbooks. I am an appointed member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for a major university. And, I also serve as a peer-reviewer for multiple academic journals in the field of education. Finally, I am an active member of several interdisciplinary, collaborative teams seeking to conduct scholarly research, produce academic publications, and share new knowledge with the academic community. Prior to becoming involved in higher education full time, I worked in the field of Special Education within the public schools for over 12 years. I have been fortunate to serve as a Special Education Compliance Specialist, Middle School Consultative Teacher, School Improvement Specialist for Secondary Special Education, Behavior Intervention Specialist, and a small group and collaborative teacher for Emotionally Behavior Disordered (EBD) students during that time. Currently, I hold my Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership as well as GA Educator Certifications in Special Education (General Curriculum and Behavior Disorders) and Educational Leadership. I pursued my Ph.D. at another online university; therefore, I am very comfortable working in an online learning environment. Prior to earning my doctorate, I studied in the fields of special education, psychology, and sociology.
