Albert Smothers, Ph.D.
Dr. Albert E. Smothers has over 14 years of higher education experience which began when he started teaching business courses for the University of Phoenix – Houston Campus. He is currently serving as Director of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at the University of Phoenix, Houston Campus. He is responsible for leading the Academic Affairs Department and managing the Campus College Chairs for the School of Business, College of Health Professions, College of Humanities and Sciences, College of Social Sciences, and College of Information Systems and Technology. Before assuming his current role, Dr. Smothers was the Campus College Chair for the School of Business. Dr. Smothers is also Certified Advanced Facilitator. Dr. Smothers spent over 15 years in the Financial Services industry as a Financial Advisor and Retirement Specialist. Dr. Smothers currently holds a securities license: Series 6 and a Life Insurance License in the State of Texas. Dr. Smothers spent several years at Washington University School of Medicine as a Financial and Grant Administrator for the Department of Psychiatry and several years with the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Smothers has a Ph.D. in Organization and Management with a specialization in Leadership from Capella University, Minneapolis, MN, a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Fontbonne University, St. Louis, MO, and Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, Edwardsville, IL. Dr. Smothers is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
