Group Test Review and Analysis: Innovation to Promote Critical Thinking

Abstract:

"Please be quiet, students are still taking the exam." Does this sound familiar? Nursing students often huddle outside of the classroom after an examination, discuss test item options, and propagate erroneous information. Even with the best-developed, teacher-made test, students discuss which answer they believe is correct. Testing is an inherent part of nursing education and plays an important role in preparing students to take the licensure examination at the end of their course of study. Although the primary goal of testing is to measure knowledge, the goals of the group test review and analysis process are to provide a positive avenue for students to collaborate and exchange knowledge, and to strengthen students' existing knowledge base and clarify deficits. Group test review emphasizes the global requirements of analysis by augmenting the traditional testing method through the collaborative sharing and "group think"
