In recent years, there has been increased national attention focused on student success and return on investment in higher education. While tutoring is recognized as an important form of academic support for students, the world of community colleges and their students is complex. Perceived barriers related to traditional tutoring models may hinder students from accessing available resources. Embedded tutoring provides a bridge between the expertise of the instructor and the student. New Mexico Junior College invites faculty members from two-year institutions to explore the possibility of embedding tutors in their own courses. Strategies for implementing embedded tutoring as well as pitfalls to avoid will be discussed. Mobile devices are not necessary for session participants.
