When a Loved One Goes to Prison: Daunting Questions Families Want to Ask

Often when a person is incarcerated, families become confused about where to get help.  This article gets them started.


Several questions arise when a person goes to prison: how do I get in touch with my loved ones?  Why is it hard to get someone on the visitation list?  What am I allowed to bring into the prison?  Plus, family members get the feeling they are experiencing the throes of incarceration along side their loved one.  For a person in this type of crisis, these questions explore how to find one's way around the prison system and its rules.
