My Loved One Is In Prison

This three-part article orients families experiencing incarceration.  The author provides leaders in churches as well as communities with a number of sources to guide persons in this process.   In addition, the resources outline severity of issues, personal experiences (by former inmates), how to work through a correctional system and ways to manage the situation.

Abstract: 

This article explores the culture of the prison, its system and how one might navigate through it in order to be of support to an incarcerated family member.  The article includes latest statistics from the federal government Bureau of Justice, overview of rules and websites, real experiences from those who have been incarcerated, reading materials and programs, and recommendations for managing the family in crisis.
