Student motivation: Moving beyond “leading a horse to water”

An article regarding the need to forgo the theory that instructors play a minor role in student learning because learning is up to the student. Instructors cannot make a student learn, yet they can ensure the instructions are clear, the student has ample access to resources, and that the feedback hones in on the student’s deficiencies as well as successes.
