Age As a Predictor of Student Success in Community College Technical Certificate Programs

This study uses predictive analytics to look at the demographic of student's age groups to determine the probability of retaining, persisting, and finally earning a Technical certificate from a community college. Archived data was acquired from a large community college in the Midwest for the purposes of this study. The study uses a logistic regression with the dichotomous outcome of either earning a technical certificate or not earning a technical certificate. Multiple age groups are used and compared to a traditional baseline age group of ages 16 through 21.
