What can a leader learn about teaching `Olelo Hawai`i (Hawaiian language) to a racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse group of learners, ages 7-62, by using The Silent Way (Gattegno, 1972; Gattegno, 1973) methodology? Kumu Cody Pueo Pata, Kumu Hula of Halau Hula Ka Malama Hahilani, and Jane A. Schumacher, Ed.D., will use action research methodology to understand the roles of leaders and learners of an indigenous language. The roles of both leaders and learners will change as the principles of The Silent Way are implemented with learners in both face to face and in online learning.
