I am interested in learning more about how the arts open learning potentials.
I am interested in developing better learning opportunities for students in online or CSCL environments.
I am interested in how visual, auditory, and kinesthetic materials might improve learning in general and particularly an online learning experience.
I am interested in learning more about qualitative research, particularly content analysis.

The CEITR has accepted my research fellowship proposal for 2016-17. The article was accepted for publication in August, 2017. I am currently developing a special interest group: The Arts: Teaching and Learning. A call for research participants will go out during September, 2017. Several other research projects are nearing completion and will be submitted for publication. I will present three papers at the AECT conference in Jacksonville, Florida in November, 2017.

The proposed study will apply a sequential explanatory mixed methods design where quantitative data will be collected first to identify any differences in student achievement of learning outcomes as an effect of membership within the experimental or control group. In the second or qualitative phase of the study, data will be gathered to explain further the quantitative data from phase 1.
During phase 1, the mixed method approach will define the relationship between the dependent variable (student progress in writing and organization and critical thinking as assessed by a validated rubric) and the independent variable (participation in the experimental or control cohort). The experimental group will receive Snagit software supported audio and visual feedback on assignments. The control group will receive traditional print based feedback. Two covariates that might have an effect on findings are GPA and self assessed familiarity with technology. During phase 2, students from both groups will be interviewed to understand the statistical findings in more depth.
