Abstract:
It has been recommended and required for all officers to have a degree to reduce bias, prejudice, and excessive force. Incidents of cultural conflict still exist in criminal justice (law enforcement and corrections) in spite of the efforts by higher education to introduce information to improve the criminal justice system. While higher education has an impact on the officer, it has had limited impact on the criminal justice organization. The role and limitations of higher education in resolving cultural conflict will be discussed and illustrated.
