Evidence-Based Practice Guideline Acute Confusion/Delirium

National Guideline developed through a systematic review and synthesis of current practice. A search was completed using CINAHL and Medline database. The literature included research studies, systematic reviews, quality improvement studies, and literature published from 2000-2008. Other national guidelines were reviewed from the Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality, American Geriatrics Society, American Psychiatric Association, British Geriatrics Society, Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing, National Guideline Clearinghouse, and the Registered Nurses Association. A hand search was also done using the references from the literature obtained during the search. One hundred and sixteen studies and four national guidelines were actually used to identify the recommendations for  nursing assessments and interventions.
