Speaking to a mostly English-speaking, Hispanic audience of instructors, administrators, city leaders, and students, I opened the conference with a keynote address explaining Ned Herrmann's work on brain dominance and preference. I then identified the strengths and weaknesses of each of the four quadrants of the brain. A quick analysis of the audience found all four of the quadrant preferences present in the audience (I knew with this large of an audience all four had to be present). After explaining how ineffective we could be as a one-quadrant leader, I carefully weaved the audience back around to identify how and why the most effective leaders utilize all four of the quadrants, regardless of their preferred quadrant.
