Dissertation to Publication (DTP) workshop is a four-month web-based workshop that teaches the art of developing a publishable manuscript based on a dissertation and supports the participants in submitting their manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals. The workshop focuses on the process and the finished product – a publishable manuscript.
DTP workshop was established in the fall of 2016 and is offered in the fall and spring. DTP workshop has been very successful by providing unique opportunities and valuable resources for the participants to publish in peer-reviewed journals. There is no similar workshop in higher education in the United States. Since its establishment, 601 doctoral alumni and faculty members have attended the workshop, developed, and submitted 561 manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals. The list of selected publications of the DTP workshop can be viewed here.
Format and Procedure: The workshop provides structured support and guidelines via asynchronous platforms and synchronous monthly web-based meetings. Target journals for publication are identified at the beginning of the workshop. The manuscripts are broken down into three major sections of introduction, method, and results. The committee of reviewers works closely with the participants to review, revise, and finalize their manuscripts. Participants submit their manuscripts to their target journal by the end of the workshop. The committee of reviewers is well-experienced faculty who support the participants throughout the manuscript development. Dissertation to Publication Workshop is offered twice per year, in the spring (Jan-April) and fall (Sept-Dec) semesters.
Participant Eligibility: Graduated doctoral students and doctoral students close to graduation, who are interested in publishing their doctoral dissertations (in all disciplines) are encouraged to participate. Dissertation chairs and committee members may participate with their doctoral students and will be co-authors.
Cost
The registration cost is $250, which will be waived for University of Phoenix affiliates (students, faculty, alumni) if register with their University of Phoenix email address.
