Abstract:
Societies are built upon a foundation of trust. Trust is the dynamics of the relationships between the leader and the led. Without trust there is only servitude. We place our trust in our pharmacist that s/he has provided us with the correct prescription, we trust that the on-coming driver will stop at the stop sign as we progress through the intersection, we trust the soldier to defend our freedom, the police and fire departments to protect out lives and property, and leaders to lead us fairly and effectively; it is all A Matter of Trust. Merriam-Webster defines trust as: “1 a : assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something b : one in which confidence is placed.” W. Edward Deming, father of TQM, once stated that, “The job of the leader is to create an environment of trust so that everyone may confidently examine himself.”
