Mental Health SIG Member, Todd Hastings, Ph.D., RN, Presents Podcast: "Why Don’t More Nursing Students Choose The Mental Health Field?"

Todd Hastings, Ph.D., RN is the lead investigator and author of a new report “Can Completing a Mental Health Nursing Course Change Students’ Attitudes?” During this interview, Dr. Hastings shared his insights into his study which elicited information from 310 nursing students on their knowledge of mental illness, their perceptions about people with mental illness, and what drives their interest in choosing to work in the mental health field. Dr. Hastings is Assistant Professor Cedar Crest College in the Nursing Department, where his focus is psychiatric mental health nursing. He has a PhD in Nursing Education from the University of Phoenix, a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing (Clinical Nurse Specialist) from Wilkes University, as well as an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Luzerne County Community College.
