Linda is currently the Vice President and Dean of Specialized Programs for the University of Phoenix, College of Security & Criminal Justice. She brings over 25 years of practical security leadership experience; prior to joining the university she has worked in diverse industries including financial services, hospitality & gaming, telecommunications and retail current with teaching and scholarship. Linda also maintains a private training and expert witness practice, and is a frequent writer, contributor and speaker on workforce related matters.
Linda earned her doctorate degree from Capella University in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with a research focus in Workplace violence, and Maters of Science in the same area. She has a Bachelors in Government & Politics with a minor in Criminal Justice from George Mason University.
Dr Linda Florence is currently the President of the ASIS Foundation Board of Trustees
Linda earned her Certified Protection Professional designation (CPP) in 1990 as the youngest certificant at the time, and has remained continuously involved in volunteer leadership for more than 2 decades, starting at the chapter level and moving through all levels through the organization. She served two terms on the Board of Directors, PCB, Foundation and including President of the Professional Certification Board; a two-time honoree of the President’s “Award of Merit.” Currently she serves as faculty for APC 1, a member of the ASIS PAC. Contributor to the Protection of Assets Manual, ASIS standards, and previous keynote to the Academic Practitioners symposium.
In 2015 she had the honor of presenting the newly-adopted Enterprise Security Competency Model on behalf of the ASIS Foundation at the National Press Club; a significant milestone given that her passion lies in research and validation of the security profession.
