Invitation to participate from Mark McCaslin, Ph.D., Mansureh Kebritchi, Ph.D., and Ryan Rominger, Ph.D. 

We would like to invite you to participate in our study titled Student Success in Online Practitioner-Oriented Doctoral Program.

Would you like to share your perspectives about contributing factors and the nature of doctoral student success?

If you are alumni, would you like to explore your grit and personality traits? Do you think students’ grit and personality traits may affect student success?  

Participate in our study to help us answer these questions. The purpose of our mixed methods study is to explore and identify the nature, contributing factors, and ways to improve student success for nontraditional students in an online doctoral program. We are a group of key researchers which consist of Dr. McCaslin, Dean of Research and Scholarship, Dr. Kebritchi, Chair of the Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR) and Dr. Rominger Associate Chair of Leadership Studies and Educational Research (CLSER) at the School of Advanced Studies, University of Phoenix.  

We will use online survey, demographic questions, validated Likert scales (for alumni only), and phone interviews (optional) to explore your perspectives and, for alumni, personality traits. The results would greatly contribute to better understanding of the student success in online doctoral programs. Your answers and information will be confidential. The results will be reported as anonymous aggregated findings.

We would greatly appreciate your participation, if you belong to one of these groups:

  • A doctoral graduate of University of phoenix, graduated within the last 10 years. Time commitment would be 30 minutes for the online surveys (grit and personality surveys) and 20-30 minutes for the optional interview.
  • An administrator of the School of Advanced Studies OR a faculty member in the doctoral program who teaches at least one class OR participates on dissertation committees as either a chair or committee member. Time commitment would be 15 minutes for the survey and 20-30 minutes for the optional interview.
