Why Children Cant Write

Dr. Young was invited to write an article for this British Columbian journal explaining why American children are having difficulty writing.

Abstract: 

For decades, American schools have moved in the direction of letting children writing with a free flowing spirit ignoring the conventions of writing.   Now that the state tests have exposed the perils of this writing strategy, educators are moving back to a tough love approach to teaching writing.
