Context in Understanding Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: Morocco and Egypt
Research on entrepreneurship ecosystems lacks a contextual approach particularly in emerging economies. Morocco and Egypt are two large countries in the MENA region that both have recent active entrepreneurship activities but with different ecosystems. Egypt, the most populous country in the region and famous for “Arab Spring”, ranks highest in entrepreneurial intentions. Morocco, a kingdom endowed with natural resources, has become a favorite backyard for Hollywood film production. This chapter investigates and compares these two countries from an international geo-political perspective to provide a gateway to understand entrepreneurship development in the region.
