Teaching and Learning with the Arts Research Group

Teaching and Learning with the Arts Research Group

The Teaching and Learning with the Arts Research Group works to answer the question ‘What do the arts bring to teaching and learning?’ In the 21st century, the arts may play an increasingly important role in the learner centered, experiential pedagogies emerging in virtual reality, games, podcasts, and other technologically supported educational contexts. Our goal is to explore the arts as a fundamental way of knowing and understanding experience in new and traditional learning environments.

Mission

Mission:
The mission of this group is to explore the aesthetic experiences of the arts and answer the following driving question: What do the arts bring to teaching and learning?

Vision

Vision:
The vision of this group is to support a culture of learning where the full range of human aesthetic expression is explored, described, understood and applied to enrich the experiences of teaching and learning in a multi-modal and collaborative environment. A second aspect of our vision is to share insights and perspectives gained through the efforts of SIG members with the larger community of teachers and learners.
