Fear Of Change Can Derail Strategy

While research found that 85% of companies have endeavored a transformation in the last decade almost 75% of those transformations failed to improve business performance because people are afraid of change.  Commonly referred to as ‘immunity to change’ peoples' unconscious fears prevent them from changing behavior. Confirmation bias (belief that change will lead to negative results) reinforces hidden fears and strengthens our resistance to change. By having leaders model new behaviors and encourage employees to step our of their comfort zone, organizationa arae more likely to embrace change.

Leaders Focus Too Much on Changing Policies, and Not Enough on Changing Minds
