Three Stacked Approach to Showcase Your Research!

Overview

Have you struggled to explain in plain English your research either from your doctoral dissertation or research paper?  All researchers will encounter this problem! The best part is that this problem can be overcome with some practice and this interactive workshop will expose the researcher to three core concepts that will help “up level” the impact and reach of your research or the visibility of your research center.

The researcher knows their product well but may not be able to communicate it effectively.  The researcher needs to move our messaging beyond just the features (technical aspects) and start to communicate the benefits and true meaning of your work to other researchers, donors, and general audiences.

Fast-paced and practical, this approach of this workshop uses the three “stacks,” or the three stacked approach.  Each stack builds on the previous one, culminating with the creation of a practical outline for writing an op-ed and being able to convey a clear message about your research product. At the conclusion of this workshop, each researcher will be able to apply these concepts immediately to any research product.

Objectives of this Workshop:

  • Specific features, benefits, and meaning for your research products whether a journal article, a doctoral dissertation, or a practitioner article ;
  • Tips and techniques for connecting your ideas with desired audiences;
  • A proven model for media preparation;
  • Apply these techniques to a current research product;
  • An outline for an op-ed article suitable for pitching to the media.
