The mission of Knowledge Without Boundaries is to provide opportunities that enable University of Phoenix faculty, students, and alumni, to develop and achieve their professional research and scholarship goals and, through scholarly leadership, improve the performance of the organizations and communities they serve. The annual research symposium is a continuation of this mission and it upholds the intended vision to encourage the formation of communities of scholarship for University Phoenix faculty, students, and alumni.

Our Overarching Objectives:

  • To improve the performance of the organizations, communities, and schools our faculty, students, and alumni serve.
  • To cultivate and sustain a productive community of scholarship to include the production and dissemination of best instructional practices for reaching and teaching the working adult.
  • To enhance the foundational research and proposal development skills necessary for an engaged practitioner/leader/scholar
  • To inform and illustrate the preparations necessary for planning, preparing, and producing scholarly work.
  • To provide guidance concerning the development of a research agenda as it relates to disciplines of study or fields of inquiry.
  • To provide an opportunity to engage in an active community of scholarship.
  • To develop strategies for writing for publication.

We encourage submissions from all content areas related to the research agendas of the Research Centers and research, action research, and best practices around teaching and learning stemming from Communities of Scholarship at local campuses. Proposals will be accepted from Research Center affiliates (faculty, students, alumni) and from campus based communities of scholarships. Presentation proposals are being solicited under Four tracks:

  • (1) Research Papers - Share the results of a qualitative and/or quantitative research study related to the research agendas of the Research Centers, grant funded projects supported by the Office of Scholarship Support, or campus based research. This would include Research Fellowship funded projects.
  • (2) Innovative Practice Papers - Provide the opportunity for discussions of a project, program, or practice tool/strategy related to the research agendas of the Research Centers or action research conducted by faculty/students/alumni at local campuses.
  • (3) Practitioner Workshops - Provide the opportunity for a longer (60 minutes), more in-depth experience and active participation around an innovative educational practice or teaching and learning tool. We are particularly interested in workshops that encourage and support scholarship.
  • (4) Practice and Research Posters - Professional quality posters outlining either innovative practice or research relevant to campus based research (Best of Boyer).

Reviews: A committee of scholars and practitioners will blind-review all qualified entries.
