Career success depends upon integration of discipline-specific and social skills, such as team collaboration, analytical thinking, and ethics, in higher education curricula. Doctor of Education (EDD) programs are intended to prepare graduates for academic research, administrative, clinical, or professional positions in educational, civil, private organizations or public institutions, yet employers report suboptimal university-to-work transition for EDD graduates. The purpose of this mixed method study is to identify career relevant competencies EDD programs should provide through the lens of organizations that have recruited EDD graduates within the past three years. Results from this study may enable institutional leaders, program directors, and curriculum developers to better align EDD curricular programs with industry needs.
