Alumni Dr. Imani Akin and Dr. Matasha MurrellJones participate in a symposium in Australia

Dr. Akin and Dr. MurrellJones presented December 5, 2018, 12:00 p.m. at the International conference of the Australian Association for Research in Education held at the University of Sydney. The presentation focus was about their UOP Alumni Fellow research project:  Exploring the Beliefs and Professional Experiences Impacting the Building of Scholarship for Doctoral Degree Graduates

Additionally, Dr. Imani Akin responded to the request to develop and present a symposium and recruited a colleague and professor emeritus as well as one of her doctoral candidates to participate. Their symposium was accepted, and the four of them presented December 5, at 10:30 a.m.

The title of the symposium: Developing the Student-to-Scholar for Research to Influence Real World Change

Which addressed the journey of student-to-scholar occurs in multiple disciplines and phases.

 

Dr. Matasha MurrellJones chaired the symposium and, also presented the following research:  Connecting Scholarship to Changing Societal Needs: The Application of the Holistic Engaged Scholarship Model which discussed how the utilization of the Holistic Engaged Scholarship Model broadens the reach of scholarship by connecting the university to society and societal needs.

 

Dr. Imani Akin presented: Developing the Researcher and the Scholar in E-Learning Environments which examined the use of inquiry-based teaching and learning for building the research skills and scholarship of doctoral candidates of e-learning environments.
