Cheryl McAuley publishes a book about her experiences in Africa

January 28, 2019

Dr. Cheryl McAuley, a participant in the fall D2P workshop, has published a book about her experiences traveling in Africa, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and meeting a young woman she and her husband had sponsored for many years. Will they make it to the Roof of Africa? Their inspirational travelogue began with a planned meeting with their sponsored child, Beatrice, a young teenager they’d written to for nine years. Share in their six-day trek in Tanzania, Africa on the Rongai Route with two dozen other Compassion Sponsors. Cheryl also highlighted servant leadership in her book, and how that type of leading, along with exemplary followership and trust, were evident on Mount Kilimanjaro.  Organizations and leaders can benefit from this leadership style. Cheryl hopes this book will help others who may be considering sponsoring a child or climbing Kilimanjaro, two activities that are well worth the effort. Living life to the fullest in retirement can change lives. The proceeds from this book will go to Compassion International’s Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WaSH) programs in Africa. Asante Sana!
