Dr. Lia Margolin, dissertation chair and university methodologist was recognized with a certificate for excellence in research leadership from her local campus on April 18, 2018. The award reflected Dr. Margolin's work in several areas. During a monthly research club meeting, Dr. Margolin and other faculty members work with doctoral candidates individually, guiding them in their research process, providing detailed feedback about their dissertation proposals and helping them move their research agendas forward. These monthly research club meetings are ongoing and attended by 5-10 doctoral students coming for help from the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area. Next meeting will be on May 31. 2018.
As an active researcher, Dr. Margolin was invited to present recent work at American Mathematical Society (AMS) National Conference held in Hunter College, CUNY in May 2017. A link to the abstract can be found here. Additionally, Dr. Margolin posted a presentation of her research at Jersey City Campus during the general faculty meeting.
Dr. Margolin is currently a team leader for the CEITR Ethics in Education research project: “Faculty Member Institutional Engagement and Efforts to Detect and Report Student Plagiarism." The research proposal is being finalized to submit for the COR and IRB approval.
