Abstract:

As an academic and instructional designer responsible for student success and designing online courses that are learner centered and achieve desired learning outcomes, emphasis is placed on constructivist instructional strategies that are grounded in scholarly instructional theory. This study describes a course created using constructivist instructional strategies including a discussion segment delivered through synchronous web-casts strategically blended into the asynchronous online course for graduate students. The lessons learned from this study have broad implications for virtual HRD and technology based learning.
