About the Special Interest Group for Digital Teaching and Learning Resources

 

With enrollment in web-based courses soaring nationwide, research-based methods for how to enhance digital teaching remains a work in progress. This has provided an opportunity for the Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR) to establish the the Special Interest Group for Digital Teaching and Learning Resources (SIG-DTLR). Our space affords interdisciplinary scholars and external partners the opportunity to work together to advance the quality of online learning experiences by leveraging digital teaching and learning resources, specifically video chat technologies and collaborative learning tools. This Special Interest Group will provide research opportunities for faculty, alumni, and students that will deepen the impact of the Center for Educational and Instructional Technology Research (CEITR).

Objectives

The Special Interest Group for Digital Teaching and Learning Resources (SIG-DTLR) is designed to carry out the following four objectives:

  1. To enhance the quality of learning experiences in distance education through the use of video chat technologies and collaborative learning tools.

  2. To provide job-embedded professional development opportunities to educators as they engage in the exchange of knowledge, skills, and abilities through the assistance and guidance of UOPX Alumni, faculty, researchers, leadership, and other peers.

  3. To create a community of faculty, alumni, and students to contribute to the University of Phoenix Research Hub, expand interest in the University of Phoenix doctoral programs, and provide opportunities to students to cultivate their scholarly activities, and development.

  4. To disseminate research findings through conference presentations, journal articles, book chapters, etc. that support the decision-making of educators and external partners as they seek to provide quality distance education experiences centered on learner engagement.

  1. Delivery of online education through video chat technologies.
  2. Delivery of online education through collaborative learning tools.
